The name is a bit of a mouthful but it hopefully describes what we are about.
ACCORD is made up of various Cycling groups, independent members and anyone who has a concern about Cycling on Dartmoor. The group was formed as a result of proposals under the "Dartmoor Traffic Managment Strategy" which sought to ban cycling from the common areas of Dartmoor.
Despite regular meetings with the National Park Authority, and intense lobbying of MPs and "cycle friendly" organisations, and assistance from the headquarters of CTC, an unprecidented byelaw was introduced banning cyclists from large parts of Dartmoor, - effectively criminalising a healthy leisure activity, with a fine of £400 for offenders!
